Hymns for the Hurt

When you are lonely
And don’t have anybody beside you
You extend your arms upwards,
Towards the endless blue.

When you are depressed and down
And don’t have anybody to take you through
You start roaming around the town
In search of a friend so true.

Is it necessary to shout?
When you are sad.
Is it necessary to groan?
When you are hurt so bad.
Is it necessary to sing?
If you have a guitar.
Is it necessary to search for peace?
When your mind is on a war.

When you are driving all alone
Across the desert of withered feelings
You hate to see a mirage
An oasis of artificial greeneries.

When you are losing faith in God
And stop your arms from praying
When you are out of rhythm and verses
And don’t have a song to sing
When you have a long road to walk
And the sun is setting down
Please don’t take a pause
And don’t expect an early dawn.

Is it necessary to ask for a lantern?
When there is darkness everywhere.
Is it necessary to drink and smoke?
When you have no one to care.
Is it necessary to dive down from the top?
When you can’t move any further.
Is it necessary to search for peace?
When your mind is on a war.
